Routine CERS/HMBP assistance

When Is CERS Due in Orange County?

JANUARY 1

MARCH 1

Annual HMBP reporting window opens.

Annual HMBP submission or certification must be completed by the end of the reporting window.

For facilities regulated under Orange County Environmental Health’s HMBP program, annual CERS/HMBP submission or certification is required between January 1 and March 1 each year. Regulatory responsibility can vary by facility and location, so JG Hazmat confirms the applicable jurisdiction during screening.

Plan Before the Filing Window

You do not need to wait until January to start getting ready. JG Hazmat can review your facility for service fit and begin gathering the information needed before the annual reporting period.

Preparing early does not change the applicable reporting window. The annual submission or certification is completed during the required filing period.

CERS Not Accepted or Inspection Corrections?

If an inspection identifies CERS/HMBP deficiencies, start with a correction review. JG Hazmat will determine whether the requested work falls within its services. If the complete inspection report or correction notice is needed to determine scope, we will request it by email.

Is My Facility a Good Fit?

The standard annual service works best for businesses with an established CERS account, usable existing HMBP information, and relatively straightforward reporting needs.

• Small Manufacturers
• Warehouses & Distribution
• Automotive & Service Businesses
• Other Straightforward HMBP Facilities

If the existing information is substantially outdated, significant changes have occurred, or more extensive verification is needed, JG Hazmat will identify that during the initial review.

Not sure? That is what the initial review is for.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I do CERS myself?

Yes. Businesses can manage their own CERS information and regulatory agencies may provide technical assistance. JG Hazmat is an option for businesses that prefer to outsource the routine work.

When is annual CERS/HMBP filing due?

For facilities regulated under Orange County Environmental Health’s HMBP program, the annual submission or certification window is January 1 through March 1. Regulatory responsibility can vary by facility and location, so JG Hazmat confirms the applicable jurisdiction during screening.

What if chemicals or facility information change after the annual filing?

Certain changes can require the HMBP to be updated outside the annual reporting period. If your facility, inventory, ownership, or operations have changed, JG Hazmat can review whether the work still fits the standard service or needs a different scope.

Can JG Hazmat help with inspection corrections?

Potentially. Start with a Correction Review and JG Hazmat will determine whether the CERS/HMBP items fall within its services. If the complete inspection report or correction notice is needed to determine scope, we will request it by email.

How much does JG Hazmat charge?

The standard Annual CERS/HMBP Service is $250 for 12 months for qualifying established facilities. Scope is confirmed before payment.
